Bring Your Best Friend to Jupiter Beach

In the northernmost part of Palm Beach County, there is a wonderful stretch of dog-friendly beach, one of the last remaining in the southeast.

Jupiter's k9s enjoy the sand and surf on a 2 1/2 mile stretch, just one block east of US 1 between 2 parks: Juno Beach to the south and Carlin Park to the north. (Dogs are not allowed in the lifeguarded areas of those parks).

There are 29 crossovers, marked with brown boxes that contain FREE dog bags for picking up after pets. Parking along the roadside is free and there are great sidewalks and bike lanes and water stations.

A local NFP volunteer group, Friends of Jupiter Beach, supply the free bags and boxes as a service to the community, in exchange for preserving the dog-friendly privilege. They also organize large monthly beach cleanups, the first Saturday of every month from 8am-10am, which includes a great continental breakfast featuring home baked pastries. The website contains all the details, driving directions, to cleanups, to newsletters and more.

Check out www.friendsofjupiterbeach.com. Bring your best friend and be sure to follow dog-beach etiquette: pick up after pets, keep dogs on leash or under voice control, don't let them approach others uninvited, good common considerate sense. There are no concessions along this stretch, you'll enjoy the minimal development.
