Florida Attractions

Florida attractions are not just Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. Sure, these are the big ones, but there are plenty of smaller attractions just waiting for you to walk through the gates. And as a side benefit, they tend to be much less expensive!

These are the Florida "lost" attractions. Many date from before Disney showed up. Hey, they have to be doing something right to stay open all these years!

Attractions are all over the state, so what I'm going to do is group the attractions by area. This way, you can have a plan of action, knowing where the Florida attractions are located.

Florida Flamingoes, Homossassa Springs

  • Florida Panhandle -- One of the most under-visited parts of the state. Not a ton of attractions, but there are still some worth a trip. The Florida Panhandle attractions include Pensacola, Marianna, Panama City, among others.

  • North Florida -- The original Florida, one of the oldest parts of the state. Several North Florida attractions worth seeing, especially in the St. Augustine area.  Just a few of the North Florida attractions include the Fountain of Youth, Potter's Wax Museum, Ripley's Believe it or Not and the St. Augustine Alligator Farm.

  • Nature Coast -- There is one gotta-see attraction here, and some interesting destinations. Like mermaids? You'll love the Nature Coast.  The biggest attraction here is nature itself, but you should see what Weeki Wachee is all about!

  • Central Florida -- One thing for sure -- you will not lack for options here!  There are all kinds of smaller Central Florida attractions, for when you are tired of fighting the crowds at the big ones.  Take a day or two to visit places like Discovery Cove, Gatorland and Cypress Gardens, among others.

  • Space Coast -- From the earth to the moon, blast off at Florida's Space Coast! When you aren't being high-tech, enjoy eco-tours.  Kennedy Space Center is the big attraction, but there are plenty of other things to see and do.

  • South Florida & Keys -- More of an outdoorsy theme to these attractions - you can swim with dolphins in a few places (for example). There are some interesting ones, that's for sure!  From Lion Country Safari in West Palm Beach down through the Key West trolley tours, there is all kinds of fun to be had!

What are we waiting for -- come on, let's go and visit these Florida attractions!
