Florida outdoors is a fabulous place to be! Think blue skies, clear waters, sunshine and warm weather. Swimming, sunning, just enjoying the great Florida weather.
It's a great time to be outdoors, whatever time it is, don't you think?
What is There to Do?
You're kidding, right? Florida outdoors weather is our specialty, and there are plenty of ways to enjoy it! Whether you prefer your time in outdoors Florida tame or a little on the wild side, you'll find something to enjoy.
Some of my favorites include (in alphabetical order):
Best Beaches in Florida - Wow, Florida is blessed with beaches of all sorts. From the quiet Gulf of Mexico beaches of Destin, to the tropical seas of the Florida Keys, up through some of the most famous Atlantic side beaches, Daytona Beach and South Beach. If you are beach-bound with little ones, check out a great kid's beach.
Bicycling - my pick is North Florida, with scenic beauty and plenty of shade. And it doesn't hurt that there is less traffic than in other parts of Florida. One other place that's kind of neat for bicycling is the Florida Keys.
Birding - for you birders, check out the Florida Birding Trail, which runs up the Atlantic Coast, from about Stuart up through Merritt Island.
Boating - great all over the state of Florida!
Camping - the Florida State Park campgrounds are totally awesome!
Hiking - the Florida State Parks have some great trails, and some are even part of the Florida Trail, which winds up the middle of the state.
Horseback Riding - Central Florida is the place for horseback riding. Ocala is the true horse country though.
Kayaking / Canoeing - excellent in south Florida, especially around the Florida Keys. Also consider one of the many Florida springs and rivers -- Wekiwa Springs State Park is a good one to
try! For canoes, you will also want to try the Florida Panhandle, with its spring-fed rivers.
Photography - where isn't it great? But if you want some really neat pictures, consider Key West at sunset, as well as Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Oh, and the Devil's Millhopper is a cool place for pictures too.
Shelling- excellent on the Gulf beaches, especially from Ft. Meyers on up through about St. Petersburg. Of course, Sanibel Island leads the pack, as it's famous world-wide for its shelling. Check out Captiva beaches for shelling, too.
Snorkeling - No contest, the Florida Keys. But as in diving, check out the North Florida springs too.
Swimming - Just about anywhere except the canals! From lakes to rivers to oceans and pools, your're close to water wherever you are!
Now I have to admit, I haven't actually been diving, but my sister dives, and I've been on the dive boats with her -- does that count? Otherwise, I've done it all!
Your Florida vacation is too special to spend all your time indoors or in theme parks. Come and visit outdoors Florida -- you'll be glad you did!
