Great Stay at the Riu Florida Beach - Family and Couple Friendly

The Riu Florida Beach hotel was a fantastic way to get away from the “real world” and relax and have fun! My fiancé (now husband) and I went for a three night stay (coming from Philadelphia, PA in February) and had a fantastic room.
Large bathroom and shower, two double-sized beds, and a balcony that overlooked the gorgeous, crystal blue Atlantic Ocean. The room (and hotel overall) was clean, smelled nice, and was hustling and bustling. Just what we wanted!!
The Riu Florida Beach was great because it was just a little North of all of craziness of South Beach, yet, still in walking distance of the excitement. We were able to easily leave our car rental with the great valet at the front door and simply walk to the main shopping district on Lincoln Road as well as the main strip along Collins Avenue.
The pool, bar, and hammock area out back (right off of the beach) are great. They are very private and for hotel patrons only. Quiet, seclusion, and comfort await you back here. Of course, if you’re up for it, you can also enjoy a cocktail or two at the great little tiki bar in the back.
We didn’t have children with us and we were never bothered by the children in the hotel. The folks with children seemed to enjoy their trip just as much as us. It’s definitely a family-friendly place, but also a great get-a-way for a couple. There were several kids playing in the pool out back, yet they were quiet and well-behaved.
If you’re not in the mood for the pool, and sand is more your cup of tea, walk right out back to the beach. A private beach sits right out back to sunbathe on and enjoy. It’s landscaped a little better than the rest of the public beaches and you can rent chairs and umbrellas. You can also take a walk from this beach right down the coast to the main restaurant area in South Beach for a quick lunch or cocktail.
Overall, this hotel really is a great location. The staff is multi-lingual and ready to help whenever you need it. The valet parking is worthwhile and they are quick and friendly. Next time I’m in Miami Beach, this is where I’ll be staying! I would definitely recommend springing for the Ocean Side room with the view…it’s truly breathtaking.
