Disney World Resort Discounts

Yes, Florida residents can get great deals by calling Disney and asking for a Florida Resident discount. Here's the catch, though -- you need to call at least four months ahead of time, and six months is better! I have this one straight from the mouse's mouth (i.e. I called and tried to get the discount).

That being said, the Florida resident resort discount can be mighty nice indeed. You just have to book well ahead of time, and be flexible with your dates.

Disney Park Passes - Seasonal and Annual

You can get Florida resident Disney park passes in three kinds.

The Florida resident seasonal pass is a great deal if you live near to Orlando and love visiting Disney World. Currently (and prices are always subject to change), the cost is $230 for ages 10 and up. The downside of this Disney park pass is that there are blackout dates -- for instance, the entire summer, and during the Christmas holidays. Passes are good at all four theme parks.

A Florida resident annual pass will get you unlimited admission to Disney World for 365 days a year, with no blackout dates. Current costs are $350 for ages 10 and up. Passes are good at all four theme parks.

If you'd like to also be able to visit the Disney waterparks and Pleasure Island in addition to the four theme parks, consider the Florida resident premium annual pass. You also get unlimited admission to the Wide World of Sports complex and the park hopper option. Current price is $459 for ages 10 and up.

Buying Walt Disney World Florida Resident Tickets

Just so you know, when you purchase a Walt Disney World Florida resident ticket, you will be required to show proof of residency.

Who quaifies as a Florida resident, for Disney ticket purposes? You have to show at least one of the following for every adult:

Florida driver's license
Florida state-issued ID card (must have Florida address)
Florida voter's registration card with corresponding picture ID
A college ID for a Florida college
Florida-based military ID

Trust me on this -- Disney does check your ID carefully -- it's not just pay the money and go.

You can order your Walt Disney World Florida resident's tickets and passes online, but you will still be required to pick them up in person, and show the proper ID.
