Walt Disney World Tickets
Walt Disney World tickets. You need them to get into the parks, but where do you get one at the best price? Should you order them beforehand or get them at the gate?
If you've driven on the Florida Turnpike at all, you've undoubtedly seen billboard signs for Disney tickets and that they have the best prices. Are they safe to buy from?
What about the resort or hotel you're staying at - can you get tickets there, too?
And here's the biggest question of them all: are there any places to be careful of purchasing Walt Disney World tickets -- where not to buy them?
Let's take a look at all your options for purchasing Disney tickets.
Disney World Park Tickets - Online
Yes, you can buy your Disney World park tickets online -- there are a bazillion (well, maybe not that many) places that will sell them to you.
There are all kinds of Walt Disney World ticket discounters. I just saw an advertisement for two adult tickets for $25. Now I am not sure what kind of strings are attached, so before your buy your ticket online, read any and all fine print. (Of course, that goes for any online purchase, not just tickets.)
That being said, there are bargains to be had! The most popular is a ticket and hotel combination. You may also be lucky enough to find one with a meal plan thrown in -- a great savings.
The Cheapest Disney World Ticket Is...
If you are willing to sit through a timeshare presentation, you probably can't get a better price on a Walt Disney World ticket anywhere.
Not into timeshare presentations? Your best bet is an online ticket seller, and buying a five or more day park pass. If you can swing it (and have the time), a ten-day park pass is the absolute cheapest Disney World ticket, on a per-day basis.
Buy Tickets at the Gate
If you're a Florida resident and want to get the Florida resident ticket, you will have to pick them up at the gate or at a resort. Although you can buy them online, you still have to pick them up in person, and show proof of Florida residency.
You can buy your tickets at the gate if you just don't like buying over the internet, too. Or if you have a last-minute trip and can't wait to get the tickets in the mail.
The good news is that with all the people buying tickets online or at a resort, the lines at the gate are much diminished.
The Turnpike Stops
If you're driving to Disney, you can get Walt Disney World tickets at the Florida Turnpike stops - it's safe. You will have quite a few choices, and the billboards will announce the location many miles ahead of time.
In some of the locations, you can also make hotel reservations. It's useful if you are going to Disney on the spur of the moment, but I'd really suggest making reservations ahead of time, and know what you're getting. Personally, I have used the Turnpike stops to get a hotel reservation. I wasn't thrilled with the hotel, but at least the price was low. You do get what you pay for.
At the Hotel or Resort
You can get tickets at the ticket booth in many Orlando area hotels and resorts. The only problem is if the hotel will only sell you the Walt Disney World tickets the morning of your visit (and good only for that day). Unless the resort's ticket booth opens at 7:00 AM, you will lose time at Disney (if you like to get there early). However, if the ticket booth opens early, or if they sell the tickets the day before, you're good to go.
Where Not to Buy Disney Theme Park Attraction Tickets
If you meet someone on your vacation that just happens to have some tickets that they won't be using....walk away from it, unless you know the person. Not that the tickets might not be legitimate, but with what they cost, why take the chance?
Be careful about buying Walt Disney World tickets on ebay. On ebay, tickets are an area with lots of confusion and possible misunderstandings. Not to mention that might be slow to mail them and your tickets don't get to you in time.
If you do want to get your tickets on ebay, look for a seller with lots of good, recent feedback. (If you don't know what I mean by that, don't buy your Walt Disney World tickets on ebay.)
One final caution on how not to buy Disney theme park attraction tickets. If you don't live in Florida, don't buy a ticket from a Florida resident. If for some reason your ticket doesn't go through the card reader correctly, you will be asked to provide proof of Florida residency. If you can't, then you won't be allowed into the park - and will have wasted all that money.
