Walt Disney World Vacation Packages

Walt Disney World vacation packages come in all shapes and sizes. From budget to lavish, from just a couple days to a couple weeks, there is a Walt Disney World vacation package to suit you.

Oh, and let's not forget there are land and sea options, with a Disney cruise!

Decisions, decisions. Let's take a look at some Disney package ideas.

Disney World Resort Package

When you stay at a Disney resort hotel, you get free transportation around the Disney area, as well as extra magic hours at the theme parks. (Extra magic hours are when the theme parks open early or late, but only for resort guests.)

A Disney World resort package that includes the Disney meal plan is a great buy. Yes, food is rather expensive at Disney, although there are some ways (like the meal plan) to lessen the costs .

One of the biggest advantage to staying at a Disney hotel or resort is location, location, location! However, another advantage is excellent service and friendly staff.

A Walt Disney World vacation package where you stay at a non-Disney hotel or resort is great if you want to get out and see Orlando while on vacation. You also have a larger range of hotels, from budget to luxury.

The caveat is that you will probably need to rent a vehicle to get around. Some of the hotels offer shuttle services to the parks, but personally, I don't like being tied into a shuttle schedule. However, there is something to be said for shuttles -- Orlando traffic can be busy at times!

Disney World Ticket Package

The basic Walt Disney World vacation package is one that includes both Disney World theme park tickets as well as a place to stay. A three day, two night hotel stay along with a day at one of the theme parks is a popular option.

But if you can manage it, the 7-day Disney World ticket package and vacation is a great deal. The rates can be surprisingly low, because the more days you stay, the less cost per day. If you opt to stay at a Disney resort hotel, you can get even better rates.

Walt Disney World Vacation Packages -- Magic Your Way!

There are five categories of Walt Disney World vacation packages; they are:

Magic Your Way Package: This is the "starter package" with the lowest rates. You get a Disney resort stay, and theme park tickets for each day.
Magic Your Way Plus Dining: This is still the basic package, but it includes the Disney meal plan. Most of the Disney restaurants participate in the meal plan, so you have a large variety of restaurants from which to choose. The dinng plan can save you up to 30% on the cost of food during your stay.
Magic Your Way, Deluxe Dining: This package gives you three meals a day, plus two snacks so it's truly comprehensive. Once again, you can save up to 30% off the normal cost of foods. Naturally, the resort stay and theme park ticekts are also included.
Magic Your Way Premium Package: Everything in the Deluxe Dining package, plus unlimited use of select Disney recreation. This includes tickets to the Cirque du Soleil® show, La Nouba™, golf and more.
Magic Your Way Platinum Package: If you really want to be pampered on your Walt Disney World vacation package, check this one out. You'll stay at a Deluxe or Villa resort, and (of course) it includes all the features of the Disney Premium package plus. There are some other added benefits, though -- additional dining options at Victoria & Albert's restaurant, reserved seating at Fantasmic!, spa treatment, fireworks cruise, turndown service, etc..

Also keep in mind that everyone in the room must be on the same package and ticket options. You can also upgrade just about everything, from a fancier resort to a park hopper pass and more!

Theme Park and Cruise

I jokingly call this the "surf and turf" vacation package. It's an excellent idea -- tour the theme parks for a few days, then take another few days to relax on a cruise to the Bahamas or the Caribbean.

The most popular package is for a 4-day 3-night theme park stay combined with a 3-day 4-night Bahamas cruise. You'll leave from Port Canaveral and take the cruise ship to Nassau and also to Castaway Cay, the Walt Disney World private island.

There are also 7-day cruises, to either the eastern or western Caribbean -- a real escape from everyday life!

One of the great things about a cruise vacation is that your meals are included with the cruise. Sure, you'll have to pay extra for alcoholic beverages and sodas, but the meals are free (and frequent). You will never go hungry on a cruise!
